Get A Grip! Think Soft To Hit It Far

The next time you are on the driving range, have a golf buddy try and pull a club from your hands. Did the club slide out with ease? Or was the buddy trying to wrestle the club out with all of his might, and still unable? To begin with, grip pressure should always be light, approximately 30% of your strength. In addition to a light grip pressure, try relaxing your wrists, forearms, arms and shoulders.

If you slice the ball with your driver or pull the ball with your short irons, this is a great starting point for you. It will allow you to feel the proper release and have an opportunity to draw the ball or at least hit it straighter. A relaxed body and light grip pressure also allows the hands and arms to pick up more speed. And remember, speed equals distance! Now enjoy the speed!
